Okay I don't understand sheets. Like, the fitted sheet that covers the mattress, I get that one, that one's fine. But then you get a really super soft amazing blanket for your bed but you put a sheet between it and you? And a comforter on top of it? So you do not feel your soft blanket? Why? What's the point? No thanks. No sheets, just blanket. Fuck sheets.

i always got confused about this on shows cause our house it’s just:

sheet -> you -> duvet

why do the tv people have so many thin blankets instead of one thick one?

also wtf is a comforter? it goes on top of the blanket as ANOTHER layer?

I think a duvet is the same as a comforter. Maybe it's a regional dialect thing? Idk

I'm staying at my aunt's right now and the beds here are fitted sheet, person, regular sheet, soft blanket, comforter. I hate it so much. The blanket is soft but I don't get to touch it. :(

At my apartment it's just, fitted sheet, person, soft blanket, comforter. And then in the winter maybe extra blankets on top of that.

In my house growing up we always had top sheets, my mom said it was because you can't wash the big blanket so easily so the top sheet protects the big blanket. It makes sense to put a top sheet on a guest bed so if your guest sleeps under the top sheet your laundry work is cut out for you. My mom also said that it's like this in hotels as well, sheets get washed more frequently than the big blankets do, if they get washed at all. I have no idea if that's true, she also never worked in a hotel so I don't know how she knows that.

J tends to sleep on top of the big blanket as like a pillowtop mattress and have a lot of preferences about the coolness and texture of the big blanket. And then she sleeps underneath one of her own fuzzy blankets to stay warm. This baffled me until I realized that she had a very uncomfortable bed growing up, so it's basically like a pillowtop layer for her. Even though our bed is fairly nice, she's been doing it for decades and can't fall asleep under the big blanket like I do.

So, in my apartment we have: fitted sheet, person (me), top sheet, big blanket with a very specific texture, person (J), fuzzy blanket. That's how it is lol. Double decker bedding.
